Liszt wrote music for this opera in 1850-51, after Lord Byron's Sardanapalus, about the last Assyrian king. But he dropped the project and left it incomplete. This volume contains the surviving music. With a preface in English, German, and Hungarian. Facsimile plates. Critical report. An appendix contains the libretto, as reconstructed by Marco Beghelli. This edition is based on Liszt's incomplete autograph.
