Originally printed in Edinburgh, 1760, this publication was devoted to the cittern, or English guitar, popular in Britain from the 1750s into the early 19th century. Geminiani followed a one-page preface with 11 examples in different keys, which were presented in standard notation and tablature, and with basso parts. This edition includes an editor's introduction, critical commentary, and several plates. An appendix includes a complete facsimile of Robert Bremner's Instructions for the Guitar, second edition, published in Edinburgh in 1762.
