Gluck composed this opera on a libretto by Louis Anseaume and Pierre-Augustin Lefèvre de Marcouville, which they had written for an opera by Jean Louis Laruette. The full score is lost, but a version for voices and continuo survives. This edition includes a foreword and critical notes in German, as well as facsimile plates of the manuscript score and the printed libretto.
