In five movements. With a preface, editorial notes and critical comments in Russian and English. One plate. Schnittke composed this work in 1985. It was premiered that year by violinists Oleh Krysa and Tatiana Grindenko with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra. The music pays tribute to five composers who had anniversaries that year: Schütz, Bach, Handel, Scarlatti and Berg. This edition is based on the autograph and the first print, published by Peters.
