This opera was composed for the 1666 marriage of Holy Roman Emperor Leopold I and Margarita Teresa of Spain. The five-act work was written on a libretto by Francesco Sbarra, and is one of the most lavish Baroque spectacles produced. Reprinted from an earlier edition published by Breitkopf & Härtel. A second volume, which accompanies the score, contains a preface and synopsis in English and German and 25 prints.
