With a preface, introduction, plates, critical report, and appendix. Premiered in Berlin 1772, this work sets a poetic retelling of the death of Christ, interpolated with movements based on other texts. Much of the music is based on his 1769 St. Matthew Passion. This edition is based primarily on the composer's house copy, mostly in the hand of a copyist.
