Handel composed this opera on a libretto by Nicola Francesco Haym, based on an earlier libretto by Giacomo Francesco Bussani. The work was premiered in London, 1724. Volume 1 of this set contains the score as it was performed in 1724. Volume 2 contains appendices of changes made in later performances, as well as a critical commentary. With a preface and facsimile plates.
